Wallmans Salonger

My parents-in-laws treated us to a Wallmans Salonger show and dinner on Sat night (24 Feb 2007).

My my my... it was great! Food was good and the show was fantastic! The show was set against the era where sleazy nightclubs were popular with the rich and famous. It was the men's world! Girls in thick makeup, shamelessly short skirts, boobs-push-up corsets, and slutty lacy pantyhoses. Something akin to moulin rouge. Of course, now it's more like a musical performance. Also, the performers were food servers. So they danced, sang, and served food. Certainly, they were not the best servers, but it was fun having someone serve you food in heavy makeup and fanciful clothes.
It was really a totally new experience for me. So while we were wining and dining, there were pretty girls and androgynous looking dudes entertaining us with song and dance! How cool is that eh...

Days of Snowing...

The Capital Of Scandinavia has been snowing alot these few days. To think I thought winter is going to be over soon! *I had washed and stored away my gloves and caps already* Snow is fun to look at, nice to admire at, BUT certainly not easy to deal with. It inhibits human movements, causes traffic jams, stalls trains and subways. More importantly, it can cause you to slip and fall and look totally unglam on a busy street.

So, what can one do on a snowy day? Hhmm...
1. Stay at home and read a book by the window, and watch the snow flies by...
2. Stay at home and watch tv, and watch the snow flies by...
3. Stay at home and do some cleaning, and watch the snow flies by...
4. Stay at home and do some ironing, and watch the snow flies by...
and the list goes on...

CNY Parcel

I am totally touched by a friend. She sent me a tub of Nonya Peanut cookies, just because I casually mentioned that I missed the CNY goodies. The parcel travelled thousands of miles and reached me on the 3rd day of the lunar year. I'm deeply grateful. This tub of cookies is the only trace of CNY festivity in my little apartment.

Thank you, Karen. I almost finished them in one day. :)

Valentine's Day I

This is the peach cream cake that I baked for Valentine's Day. Not sure about the taste, but presentation certainly looks not bad eh... I am quite happy with my creation!

One good thing about living in an european country is you can almost find anything you need for baking at quite cheap prices. And there are many ready-made products for baking. Of course, I made this from scratch ok. Take a look at the whipped cream I've whisked... hhmm, gives me an irksome feeling to know that I am going to consume all this into my body. Hahaha... How not to put on weight neh? Only today... ONLY today I tell myself...

But I've lost count of how many Only today I've told myself...

The street from my window

My Magig Kitchen

Introducing the magical kitchen in my 28sqm Stockholm apartment. It is quite big in relation to the entire apartment and very well equipped. :)

I have a multifunctional cook-prep machine that can slice, dice, blend, whisk, cream, mince, and what not! It can do almost any cooking prep work! Sadly, it works best only for big quantity. Dicing a potato or two? Just too much cleaning after if I use the machine. So it's still sitting there collecting dust and spider webs everyday. Here's a close up...

Baking...

Max's birthday cake. 8 Feb 2007.
Apple Pound Cake.

CHOCOLATE. Guilt.

I chewed away 3 cubes of CHOCOLATE after dinner just now.

Guilt-stricken now.

With two wedding ceremonies impending (note: I'm not double-booked ok), that's probably the last thing a bride-to-be should do!

For the record:

TWO cubes of Belgian Milk CHOCOLATE with Caramelised Almods and Honey Nougat
ONE cube of Smooth Dark CHOCOLATE with Crispy Hazelnut Praline

How can I possibly resist? In fact, who can?!

To alleviate my guilty conscience, I have hidden the two CHOC bars into a dodgy corner in the fridge. Ssshhh... don't tell me where they are ok?
